Express y in the terms of X given that X/5 + 2Y = 3 check whether -5,2 is a solution of the equation

Solution:

x=-5

y=2

                         \frac{x}{5}+2y=3

                         2y=\frac{3-x}{5}   ⇒ 2y=\frac{15-x}{5}

                         y=\frac{15-x}{10}

Putting the value of x and y

                                    2= \frac{15-(-5)}{10}

                                    2=\frac{15+5}{10}

                                    2=\frac{20}{10}

                                    2=2

∴(-5,2) is a solution for the given equation
