Workdone=Force X Displacement

W=F*s       ;s is displacement

It can be also written as W=F.dscos(theeta) where theeta is angle between direction of applied force and displacement of the object in which force is applied.

The work done is the component of the force along the direction of the displacement multiplied by the displacement.

Let F be the force and ds be the elemental displacement by the compent of the force. In vector form work done by a force F is

W = F . ds.
