Weight of the liquid column exerts a downward thrust on the bottom of the vessel and the liquid exerts pressure

Weight of the liquid column,

Pressure exerted by the liquid column on the bottom of the vessel, that is the pressure exerted at the depth .

The pressure exerted by the liquid column at a depth h is proportional to the density of the liquid and the depth.
