Microbial toxin. Microbial toxins are toxins produced by micro-organisms, including bacteria and fungi. Microbial toxins promote infection and disease by directly damaging host tissues and by disabling the immune system. Some bacterial toxins, such as Botulinum neurotoxins, are the most potent natural toxins known.

Toxins are poisonous substances released by bacteria as a result of their metabolic activities.

There are two types of bacterial toxins; endotoxins and exotoxins.

Exotoxins are toxins that are secreted outside the bacterial body whereas endotoxins remain inside the cell and only comes out if attacked by an immune cells.

These toxins are highly dangerous if comes in contact to human body. For example: tetanus toxin A released by Clostridium. This toxin is a causative agent of tetanus.
