Suppose the 2 mass are m1 and m2 ( each of mass 1 kg ) are moving with same speed v1 = v2 = 60 m/s
The third peice having mass m3 = 3kg
moves with speed v3
Total mass M = 5Kg
initial speed u = 0
Resultant momentum of 2 pieces P
P = √1×60)^2+(1×60)^2
By law of conservation of Momentum
Mv= p + m3v3
3×0=60√2+3v3
so ,,, v3 = -20√2 m/s
magnitude of v3 = 20√2 m/s .
