eye colour in the fruit fly is said to be sex linked. This simply means that the gene for eye colour is:

(b)On an autosome
(c)On the X and Y chromosome
(d)On the X chromosome
the answer is given optionA but I think that it should be optionC

Hey friend. Option D is right since the allele of sex linked traits is either on the X or Y chromosome and in this case it is Y chromosome.
For a fly The eye color has to be either red or white. The red coloured eye is dominant.
The gene would be located in X chromosome as this is an x-linked trait.

If it were to be on the Y chromosome then it would have formed dominance over the X chromosome for this particular trait. and the eye colour will always remain as on the Y chromosome and then it wouldn't be sex linked
