Answer:

The masses of the earth and moon are 6 x 1024 kg and 7.4x1022 kg, respectively. The distance between them is 3.84 x 105 km. Calculate the gravitational force of attraction between the two? Use G = 6.7 x 10-11 N m² kq-2 Ans: 2 x 1020 N.

Given: mass of earth(m1)=6×10²⁴kg

mass of moon(m2)=7.4×10²²kg

Distance between earth and

moon=3.84×10⁵km

To find: gravitational force between the two

Solution:

Using formula :

Using formula :Gravitational Force=G×m1×m2/r²

Here G is Gravitational constant and m1 and m2 are masses of body

We know G=6.67×10^-11 Nm²/kg²

Putting values in formula:

Force=6.6×10^-11×6×10²⁴×7.4×10²²/ (3.84×10⁵)²

Adjusting and solving decimal

= 667×74×6×10^-36/384×384×10¹⁰

Solving powers :

=296148×10²⁶/147456

=2.008×10²⁶Newton

Answer: Gravitational force between earth and moon is 2.008×10²⁶Newton.
