Given: f(X)= 1 if X is rational and 0 if X is irrational

To find: f(1/2)+ f(√5)/f(√3)* f(√3)

Solution:

  • Now we have given:

                  f(x) = 1 ....................if x is rational

                  f(x) = 0....................if x is irrational

  • The term is:

                  { f(1/2)+ f(√5) } / { f(√3) x f(√3) }

  • Here 1/2 is rational and rest other terms are irrational, so:

                  { 1 + 0 / 0 x 0 }

                  1/0 = not defined.

Answer:

                So the value of the given term is not defined.
