x^3-3x^2-x+3
put x=1
(1)^3-3 (1)^2-1+3=0
so one factor is (x-1)
Now we find second factor..
x^3-3x^2-x+3/x-1
x^2-2x-3
x^2-3x+x-3
x (x-3)+1 (x-3)
(x-3)(x+1)
So the factor of x^3-3x^2-x+3 is (x-1)(x-3)(x+1)
