Given : -

  • Factorise
  • 2(x + y)² - 7(x + y) + 7

Solution : -

→ 2(x + y)² - 7(x + y) + 7

Take (x + y) as a common

→ (x + y)[2(x + y) - 7 × 1 + 7]

→ (x + y)[2x + 2y -7 + 7]

→ (x + y)[2x + 2y]

Extra Information

  • (a + b)² = a² + b² + 2ab
  • (a - b)² = a² + b² - 2ab
  • a² - b² = (a + b)(a - b)
