= 2X^2 + 9X - 5

= 2X^2 + (10 - 1)X - 5

=2X^2 + 10X - 1X - 5

= 2X( X + 5) - 1 ( X+5)

= (2X - 1)(X+5)

2X-1 = 0, X+5 = 0

X = 1/2, X= -5

QUESTION :-

factorise 2x^2 + 9x - 5

FACTORIZATION :-

Factorisation is the method by which we split the middle term

so here the middle term is 9x. so we will split 9x in to two parts so that

-----> Its sum will be the middle term and

-----> Its product will be the last term (constant term)

SOLUTION :-

2x^2 + 9x - 5 = 0

2x^2 + 10x - x - 5 = 0

2x(x + 5) - 1(x + 5) = 0

(2x - 1)(x + 5) = 0

1st case :-

2x - 1 = 0

2x = 1

x = 1/2

2nd case :-

x + 5 = 0

x = -5
