let the [ x - y ] = a
= 3a^2 - a - 2
= 9a - a -2
= 8a - 2
8a = 2
a = 8\2
a = 4
So the equation is
[ x - y ] = 4
= 3(4)^2 - 4 - 2
= 12^2 - 4 - 2
= 144 - 4 - 2
= 140 - 2
= 138

Hope it will help you !!!!!!!!!!!!
