factorise : 3x²-x-4

3x² - x - 4 = 0

3x² - 4x + 3x - 4 = 0

x(3x-4) + 1(3x-4) = 0

(x+1)(3x+4) = 0

Answer:

3x²-x-4

=3x²-(4-3)x- 4

=3x²-4x+3x-4

=x(3x-4)+1(3x-4)

= (x+1)(3x-4)

Either,

x+1=0. or. 3x-4=0

= x= -1. or. 3x=4

x=4/3

Ans. -1 or 4/3
