Given,

6x² + 5x - 6

Multiply 6 × 6 then the product will be 36.

Split the terms now.

6x² + 9x - 4x - 6 = 0

3x(2x + 3) - 2(2x - 3) = 0

3x - 2 = 0 ;

3x = 2

x = 2/3

2x + 3 = 0

2x = -3

x = -3/2

Therefore, the zeroes are 2/3 and -3/2

The question should be

Factorise 6x² + 5x - 6

Answer :

SPLITTING MIDDLE TERM

We will multiply The coefficient of x² and constant

⇒ 6 × 6 = 36

Now we have to find two numbers whose multiplication will be 36 and sum will be 5

So, numbers are 9, 4

⇒ 6x² + 5x - 6

⇒ 6x² - 4x + 9x - 6

⇒ 2x(3x - 2) + 3(3x - 2)

⇒ (2x + 3)(3x - 2)

Now,

(2x + 3) = 0

2x = -3

x = -3/2

and also

(3x - 2) = 0

3x = 2

x = 2/3

Therefore,

Verification

6x² + 5x - 6

= 6 × (-3/2)² + 5 (-3/2) - 6

= 27/2 - 15/2 - 12/2

= 0/2 = 0

also

6x² + 5x - 6

= 6 × (2/3)² + 5 (2/3) - 6

= 8/3 + 10/3 - 18/3

= 0/3 = 0
