Here's ur answer,
Maybe it will help...
 {a}^{2}  -  {b}^{2}  - 2b - 1 \\  =  {a}^{2}  - ( {b}^{2}  + 2b + 1) \\  =  {a}^{2}  -  {(b + 1)}^{2} \\  = (a - b - 1)(a + b + 1)

Answer:

(a+b+1)(a-b-1)

Step-by-step explanation:

a^2 - b^2 - 2b - 1\\\\= a^2 - (b^2 + 2b + 1)\\\\= a^2 - (b^2 + 1^2 + 2(b)(1))\\\\= a^2 - (b+1)^2\\\\= (a + (b+1))(a - (b+1))\\\\= \large \underline{\boxed{\boxed{\bold(a+b+1)(a-b-1)}}}}

Hope it helps.
