a ^ 2 - b ^ 2 - ( a + b )
using identity -- ( a + b ) ( a - b ) = a^2 - b ^ 2
( a + b ) ( a - b ) - ( a + b )
Taking ( a + b ) common ,
[ a + b ] [ a - b - 1 ] Ans.

Given Equation is a^2 - b^2 - a - b
= > a^2 + ab - ab - b^2 - a - b
= > a(a + b) - b(a + b) - 1(a + b)
= > (a + b)(a - b - 1).
Hope this helps!
