Answer:

2y² - 4y - 30 = 2(y+3)(y-5)

Step-by-step explanation:

2y² - 4y - 30

To factorise it we can use split method

we can get value -10 & 6  from which we get product = -60

& sum = -4

hence the equation can be written as

= 2y² - 10y + 6y - 30

now taking 2y common & 6 as common

= 2y(y-5) + 6(y-5)

now taking (y-5) as common

= (2y + 6)(y-5)

now taking two common from 2y + 6

= 2 (y+3)(y-5)

2y² - 4y - 30 = 2(y+3)(y-5)

Zeroes of 2y² - 4y - 30

2(y+3)(y-5) = 0

=> y = -3

& y = 5
