 {x}^{2}  - 36 \\  =  {x}^{2}   - {6}^{2}  \\  = (x - 6)(x + 6) \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: by \: using \:  {a}^{2}  -  {b}^{2}  = (a + b)(a - b)

a² - b² = ( a + b ) ( a - b )

We find the factors.

x² - 36

= x² - 6²

= ( x + 6 ) ( x - 6 )
