3ax - 6xy + 8by - 4ab
=(3ax - 6xy) (8by - 4ab)
=3x(a - 2y) -4b(-2y +a)
=(a - 2y) (3x - 4b)

step 1=3x(a-2y).......1
=4b(2y-a).......2
step 2=combining 1 and 2 together
=3x(a-2y)+4b(-2y+a)
=a-2y and 2y+a are common factor
=(a-2y)(3x-4b)
hence proved
