(x + 1) ^{2} + 5(x + 1) - 14

 ({x}^{2} + {1}^{2} +2 \times x \times 1) + (5x + 5) - 14

{x}^{2} + 5x + 1 + 5 - 14

 {x}^{2} + 5x - 8
