- 4x + 4 = (x - 2)(x - 2)

Given :

The expression x² - 4x + 4

To find :

To factorise the expression

Formula Used :

(a - b)² = a² - 2ab + b²

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Write down the given expression

Here the given expression is x² - 4x + 4

Step 2 of 2 :

Factorise the expression

We are aware of the formula that ,

(a - b)² = a² - 2ab + b²

Using above formula we get

\displaystyle \sf   {x}^{2}  - 4x + 4

\displaystyle \sf =    {(x)}^{2}  - 2.x.2 +  {(2)}^{2}

\displaystyle \sf =    {(x - 2)}^{2}

\displaystyle \sf   = (x - 2)(x - 2)
