Hi ,

( x -2y )² - 6( x - 2y ) + 5

Let ( x - 2y ) = a ----( 1 )

= a² - 6a + 5

= a² - a - 5a + 5

= a ( a - 1 ) - 5 ( a - 1 )

= ( a - 1 ) ( a - 5 )

Put a = x - 2y

= ( x - 2y - 1 ) ( x - 2y - 5 )

I hope this helps you.
