First of all, let’s expand the sum, this gives us:

= x^2 + 10 x + 25 - 4x - 20

= x^2 + 6x + 5

Now, even though it’s not stated in the question, I’ll solve the above to get two possible values for ‘x’, please ignore the work below this if it is in fact irrelevant.

To do this I simply factorise the following:

x^2 + 6x + 5 = 0

(x + 5)(x + 1) = 0

Hence:

x = -5 or x = -1
