Solution:

x² -8x +12 = 0

⇒ x² -6x -2x +12 = 0

or, x(x-6) -2(x -6) = 0

or, ( x -6) (x - 2) = 0

∴ x - 6 = 0

⇒ x = 6

and

x - 2 = 0

⇒ x = 2

∴ The value of 'x' is 2 and 6
