Concept

When applying splitting of the middle term in quadratic factorization, the x term is the product of the final term and the two factors.

Given

The equation given is  x2 + x - 30

Find

We need to factorize the given equation using splitting middle term

Solution

The expression given is x2 + x - 30

Now Factors of 30 which gives its difference x (middle term)

is 6 and 5

So , We can split the middle term by

x^2+6x-5x+30\\=x(x+6)-5(x+6)\\=(x+6)(x-5)

Therefore x = 5 and x = -6
