a^3 = t
t^2-7t -8 = 0
t^-8t+t -8 =0
t(t-8) +(t-8) = 0
t = -1
t = 8
a = -1 / 2
please comment if you have any doubt

spongegar: it's factorize, not quadratic equation. The answer behind the book is (a-2)(a+1)(a²+2a+4)(a²-a+1)

Hey there.....
a^6-7a^3-8
a^6+a^3-8a^3-8
a^3(a^3+1)-8(a^3+1)
(a^3-8)(a^3+1)
(a-2)(a^2+2a+4)(a+1)(a^2-a+1)
Please ask if you have any doubt

spongegar: it's not quadratic equation, it's factorize... the answer behind the book is (a-2) (a+1) (a²+2a+4)(a²-a+1)
Vihi2102: I’ve edited the answer
Vihi2102: Just expand (a cube - 8) and (a cube + 1)
