Answer:

UNIT 3 Water

7

Rewrite the passage below, replacing the semi-colons with commas and connectives.

You can change the order of the clauses if you wish.

The following day, when they went back to the lake, the weather had turned cold; there was a

strong northerly breeze. There were waves on the lake, and the water was freezing, none of them

wanted to go in. The camp leader tried to persuade them to have a swim; she didn't really want

to go in herself. She led the way into the water; no one followed. She turned round to see where

they were; they had all run away. When they got back to camp they lit a fire; they felt cold. They

wished they had been allowed to swim the previous evening; it would have been much warmer.

Answer:

4(a - 6b) \times (6a - b)

Step-by-step explanation:

49(a - b) {}^{2}  - 25(a + b) {}^{2}

Using a {}^{2} - b {}^{2} = (a - b)(a + b) factor the expression

 = > (7(a - b) - 5(a + b)) \times (7(a - b) + 5(a + b))

Distribute 7,-5,7 and 5 through the parenthesis

 = > (7a - 7b - 5a - 5b) \times (7a - 7b + 5a + 5b)

Collect like terms

 = > (2a - 12b) \times (12a - 2b)

Factor out 2 from the expression

 = > 2(a - 6b) \times 2(6a - b)

Use the commutative property to reorder the terms

 = > 2 \times 2(a - 6b) \times (6a - b)

Multiply the numbers

 = > 4(a - 6b) \times (6a - b)
