Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

x³ - 3x² - 9x - 5

⇒ sum of all coefficients of p(x) = 1 - 3 - 9 - 5 = -17 + 1 = -16

    hence (x - 1) is not a factor.

⇒ (x + 1) is a factor.

= x³ + x² - 4x² - 4x - 5x - 5

= x²( x + 1) - 4x ( x + 1) - 5(x + 1)

= (x + 1)(x² - 4x - 5)

= (x + 1) (x² -5x + x - 5)

= (x + 1) (x - 5) (x + 1)

hence, (x  + 1), (x - 5) and (x + 1) are the factors of given polynomial
