Guy Lefleur, the famous Canadian ice hockey player says, 'When trouble comes, it's your family that supports you.' It is quite true. Family and relatives are backbone of a human being without whom, we are blown like a single strand of straw in the gale of uncertainties of life. Ali was an unfortunate man. He had  just a daughter to depend upon in his family. He had never imagined in the wildest of his fancies his daughter, Miriam would thus leave him in lurch in his old age. His life had been going on smoothly until the day she eloped with her lover to Punjab. Ali's life changed dramatically towards the evening of his life.  He became a very serious and sensitive man. He gave up hunting, and his heart became sensitive to omnipresent love and the pain involved in it. His only purpose of life was now to receive a letter from his daughter. He died waiting for it. Thus in the absence of his daughter, the only family member, he became forlorn, lonely, hopeless, depressed, and dejected and devoid of all desire to live any further.

She is the daughter of former badminton ace Prakash Padukone and has a sister who is a golf player, but it's her mother that she looks up to the most.

"We all inspire each other in different ways, but it's my mother who inspires me the most. She is the backbone of our family. My father is a celebrity and my sister started her golf career, but my mother was never in the spotlight.

"She is happy taking a backseat. My mother is the real hero in my family," Deepika told reporters after being felicitated with Woman of the Year award at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Weekend and Awards here on Sunday.
