James Kirkup’s poem ‘No Men Are Foreign’ speaks of brotherhood and equality. According to the poet, irrespective of the uniform a soldier wears, in spite of the nation they are fighting for; they are same as the soldier’s they are fighting against. The poet believes that the war the soldiers fight actually reflects the war that man fights within himself. Kirkup believes that since, all men are actually equal war or battles fought amongst brothers are meaningless. This poem is about unity and understanding the fact that in spite of apparent differences, men actually are born equal.
