Fastest methods to find prime numbers above 10 digit
Answers
Answer:
Prime factorisation is the best method.
23 = 6x4 - 1
17 = 6x3 - 1
67 = 6x11 + 1
( All prime numbers can be expressed as 6k ± 1)
Following 2 tests are required :
If the given number cannot be written in the form 6k ± 1, then it is NOT a prime number.
If it can be written as 6k ± 1, then take the approximate square root of the number and identify all prime numbers less than the square root. Divide the number by ALL these primes individually. If any of them divides the number, then it is not prime. Otherwise it is prime.
For example :
Is 629 a prime number ?
629 = 6 x 105 - 1
It COULD be prime number.
√629 ≈ 25
Try dividing 629 by 3,5,7,11,13,17,19 & 23
629 is divisible by 17.
Hence 629 is NOT prime.
