or
x-y = 24 -------------------i
After 4 years
Father's age = (x+4) yrs
Daughter's age = (y+4) yrs
(x+4) = 3(y+4)
x+4 = 3y+12
=> x-3y = 8 -----------------ii
Substituting the value of x from i into ii
y+24 -3y = 8
=> -2y = 8-24
=> y = 16
x= y+24
= 16+24
= 40
Therefore, the present age of Father is 40 years and the present age of daughter is 16 years.
