The correct answer should be - 2 times.

Let us consider that the current age of Sunil is = x

Since his father's age is three times more than Sunils age, the current age of his father will be = 3x + x = 4x

According to the given question, after 8 years, the age of the father will be 2 1/2 times of Sunil's age

So, (4x + 8) = 2 1/2 (x + 8)

(4x + 8) = 5/2 (x + 8)

So, 8x + 16 = 5x + 40

By equating both sides and calculating all the 'x' together on 1 side, we get,

3x = 40 − 16 = 24

So, x = 24 / 3 = 8

So, after another 8 years, the age of Sunil will be = x + 8 + 8;

Since x = 8, the age will be 8 + 8 + 8 = 24

So, the age of his Father will be = 4x + 8 + 8

Since x = 8, we get 4 × 8 + 8 + 8 = 48

So, the age of Father / the age of Sunil = 48/24 = 2

So, after another 8 years, the father's age will be 2 times that of Sunil's age.

Let father's age be F and Sunil's be S
Thus according to question

F =3S

and

After 8 years

F+8 = 2 1/2 (S+8)
 F+8 = 5/2 (S+8)
 3S + 8 = 5/2S +20
 S/2 = 12
     S =24

Thus
F = 3 * 12 = 72

Thus after  8 years

Father age = 72+8 = 80 years
and Sunil age = 12+8 = 20 years
