Answer:

Suppose the age of father and son be x and y respectively.

Now,

1st condition,

x=3y...equation(i)

2nd condition,

x-y=4 years

From equation (ii),

3y-y=4yrs

or, 2y=4yrs

or, y=4/2 years

°y=2 years

From equation (i),

x=3*2 years

°x= 6 years

Hence, the ages of father and son are 6 years and 2 years respectively.

Answer: The present ages of the father and the son are 6 years and 2 years

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the present age of the father be 'x' years and that of son be 'y' years.

Father is three times as old as his son,

x=3y - (i)

The difference of their ages is 24 years,

x−y=4

Put the value of x from equation i in equation ii, we get,

3y−y=4

2y=4

y=2

∴y=2

Now, Put the value of y in equation (i), we get,

x=3y

x=3x2

∴x=6

So, (x,y) = (6,2)

Therefore, the present ages of the father and the son are 6 years and 2 years
