let the son's and father 's present age be x and 6x years respectively.
by the condition,
6x+4=4 (x+4)
=>6x+4=4x+16
=>2x=12
=>x=6
so present age of son is 6 years and that of the father is 36 years.

brahmagupta: can you solve by simultaneous linear equation method
dimpu2227: yeah

Let the son's age be x years . So, age of father = 6x years .
After 4 years ,
Age of son = ( x+4 ) years .
Age of father = ( 6x + 4 ) years .
So , 4( x+ 4 ) = 6x + 4
or, 4x + 16 = 6x + 4
or, 6x+4 = 4x + 16
or, 6x - 4x = 16 - 4
or, 2x = 12
or, x = 6
So, Present age of son = 6 years
and present age of father = 6×6 = 36 years
