Public transportation or carpool are not the opinion to your question because ,::

In a public transportation or carpool many people go a destination in the same vehicle hence , fuel of that vehicle is only being used . But in a private transport it is not like this as many people go in different vehicle to a destination hence a lot of vehicle fuel is being used up.
