The mother seagull turned to be cruel but her intention was kind. She wanted the fear of the young seagull to go away.
The young seagull was very afraid of flying. He thought that if he tries to fly, his wings would not support his flight. When the seagull was left alone and hungry, he had to make an attempt to fly and hence he was able to fly. He was rewarded with a dogfish which his mother threw at him.
