They are the middle Himalayan range. They are surrounded by the Himadri range to their North and the Shiwaliks to their South.
They have a height of 3500 to 4500 metres. They are covered in Coniferous vegetation in their southern part and in their northern part they have alpine vegetation.
They are covered by snow in winters
