1970 was the start of the Chipko movement first  in Uttarakhand, and later in Uttar Pradesh. The idea was to spread awareness towards deforestation, this movement features some of the methods which were inspired by Gandhi rules,  which focused on non-violent activities and no cutting of trees so that the environment can be saved. People were really possessive about it too they stood in the way of the people who tried to cut the trees in order to protect them. The highlight of this movement was that women also actively participated in this movement, the basic idea was to discourage tree cutting.
