Given:

Female Asiatic black bear waits about 110 kg before hibernation.

To find:

Weight of the bear after the hibernation.

Solution:

1) Let the month of the hibernation is x month and  weight loss per month is y kg.

2) The expression of the present weight of the bear is given by

Present Weight = Original Weight - xy

3) If we put the values according to the question the we get the present weight as:

PW = 110 - 6×2( 6 month hibernation and 2 kg lost per month)

PW = 98 Kg

Weight of the bear after the hibernation is 98 Kg.
