For the last few days, I am under the spell of festivals. Even my last week’s blog post was on Durga Puja. Actually every year, we see many festivals being celebrated across India. Now it is Durga Puja; and Diwali just knocking at the door. People irrespective of their caste or creed are celebrating. Grown ups and kids are equally excited. The new dresses, gifts, the bright lights, flowers, foods, the chanting of mantras — to sum up excitement is in the air. But it’s not just the dresses and gifts which bring happiness to our surroundings, it’s actually the sense of belonging, the connect that we all feel with each other during these festivals. You can experience this happy feel of the pujas whenever you are in a public place. It’s just that one should keep their eyes open. I walked around a shopping mall this pujas and saw many people shopping. While I was going towards a food joint with friends, I saw a two-year-old girl having a baby push chair toy walking in the mall trying to copy her mother who is carrying a 4-month-old baby in the push chair. She smiled with more excitement when she saw the Durga idol at the entrance of the mall. Looking at her it seemed as if she understood that it is the pujas. She was happy looking at the goddess, because if not anything the magnificent Durga idol itself is a source of great joy.n course of work, I meet many people from different walks of life. I communicate with them and hear their views on how they feel about festivals. Every individual has different points of view but they all are connected when it comes to festivals.
