Labor day is an important day that is observed in all the countries to celebrate, honor, recognize, and appreciate contributions of workers. This day has connection with the labor union movement, which demanded eight hours work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for relaxation and rest.

Labor day is observed as ‘International Workers’ Day’ in many countries. However, it is not observed on the same date, i.e. May 1 by all the countries.  Different countries celebrate it on different dates depending upon their own labor movements.  For example, in United States of America, it is celebrated on the first Monday of September. In Canada also it is observed on the first Monday of September.
