Holi is an Indian spring festival celebrated in the whole of India with great energy and enthusiasm. It is also called as “Festival of Colors”. Holi signified the triumph of good over evil, it also celebrated the end of winter and arrival of spring season. Spring blossoms the flora and fauna with a different hue of colors that is why Holi is celebrated with colors.

The root of Holika Dahan is in Indian mythology. King Hiranyakashipu had a son Prahlad, who was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu. Hiranyakashipu called his sister Holika to kill his son. She had a special veil or magic robe, which had the power to save the wearer from burning in fire. Holika tried to kill Prahlad in the fire, expecting she will survive with the power of magic robe. But reverse happened Prahlad came out of fire safe and Holika was burnt to death. Moral of the story is no one can harm the person who had God as his/her savior.
