given...a + 4d = 25

or, a = 25 - 4d ---(i)

a + 8d = 37

or , a = 37 - 8d ---(ii)

now, (i) = (ii)

25-4d = 37-8d

or, 4d = 12

or, d = 12/4 = 3

or, d = 3.....(Ans)

We know that ,

$tn \: = a + (n - 1)d$

Using this formula ..

t5 = a + (5 - 1) d

25 = a + 4d ..................(1)

t9 = a + (9 - 1)d

37 = a + 8d ...................(2)

Subtracting equation (2) from(1)

-12 = -4d

4d = 12

d = 12 / 4

d = 3

The common difference is 3.
