Fig 8.11 shows the distance-time graph of three objects A,B and C. Study the graph and answer the given questions. How far has C travelled when B passes A?

we can see from the given figure that when B passes A at point D then the C is at point E . If we locate the distance corresponding to point E on the Y-axis we find that it is 6.5km. Thus C has travelled 6.5km when B passes A.

C travelled when B passes A about 7.8 km.

Explanation:

From the figure, B and A meet at the point which is above 9 km. Approximately 9.4 km. If we go vertically down straight to the line C, so that, time does not change. Time remain constant.

Means at that time A and B meet, at the same time C has completed the 7.8 km distance.
