Flux = EA = A×cosx

where, E is the electric field

A is the area of cross section through which the field is passing

x is the angle between E vector and A vector

Flux = 0 = E×A×cosx

cosx = 0

x = 90°

Therefore, the regions where E vector and A vector are perpendicular

In the curved area of the cylinder E vector and A vector are perpendicular to each other

Therefore in the curved area the flux is 0
