Plants -

The leaves of plants have tiny pores on their surface which are called stomata. The exchange of gases in the leaves during respiration takes place through stomata. This oxygen is used in respiration in cells of the leaf. The carbon dioxide produced during diffuses out from the leaf into the air through same stomata.

Animals -

All the respiratory organs have a large surface area to get enough oxygen. All the respiratory organs have thin walls for easy diffusion and exchange of respiratory gases. All the respiratory organs like, lungs and gills have a rich blood supply for transporting gases.
