According to question,



X + Y = 20 -------(1)



And,



X × Y = 75---------(2)



From equation (1) we get,



X + Y = 20


X = ( 20 - Y ) -------(3)


Putting the value of X in equation (2)



X × Y = 75


( 20 - Y ) × Y = 75



-Y² + 20Y = 75


Y² - 20Y + 75 = 0



Y² - 15Y - 5Y + 75 = 0


Y ( Y - 15 ) - 5 ( Y - 15 ) = 0



( Y - 15 ) ( Y - 5 ) = 0



( Y - 15 ) = 0 OR ( Y - 5 ) = 0


Y = 15 OR Y = 5



Hence,



Two numbers are 15 and 5.
