Answer:

2a- LCM of 18 and 36=36

therefore

 \frac{14 - 11}{36}  =  \frac{3}{36}  =  \frac{1}{12}

2b-

 \frac{ - 3}{8}  \div  \frac{9}{4}  =  \frac{ - 3 \times 4}{9 \times 8}  = \frac{ - 12}{72}   =   \frac{ - 1}{ - 6}  =  \frac{1}{6}

To find : \frac{7}{18} - \frac{11}{36}

Solution:

  • To find the difference of given rational numbers we get need to equalize denominators of both the rational numbers. By taking LCM
  • Therefore, LCM = 36
  • Now, multiplying numerators of both rational numbers by same number as multiplied by denominators to make LCM.
  • Therefore, we get,
  •  \frac{7}{18} - \frac{11}{36}

        \frac{7}{18}-\frac{11}{36}=\frac{7 \times 2}{36}- \frac{11 \times 1}{36}

                     = \frac{14 - 11}{36}\\= \frac{3}{36}   \\= \frac{1}{12}

Hence, difference of \frac{7}{18} and \frac{11}{36}  is \frac{1}{12} .
