Concept:

To solve this question, we need to recall the following concepts:

  • A fraction formed by the combination of a whole number and a fraction is called a mixed fraction.
  • A fraction in which numerator is lesser than the denominator is called a proper fraction.
  • A fraction in which Numerator is greater than or equal to the denominator is called an improper fraction.

To Find:

We have to find the multiplication of the terms and express product as mixed fraction if it is an improper fraction.

Solution:

A mixed fraction is arranged in the following way:

"Quotient followed by fraction of Remainder and Divisor."

i.e.  Quotient\frac{Remainder}{Divisor}

To convert the an improper fraction in the form of a mixed fraction:

we first need to divide the numerator by denominator and  then arrange the divisor, remainder and quotient in the mixed fraction form.

(a)  \frac{2}{7} \times 3 = \frac{6}{7}   (It is in proper form)

(b)  \frac{9}{7} \times 6 = \frac{54}{7}   (It is in improper form so we will convert it in an mixed

                          fraction)

               =7 \frac{5}{7}

(c)   \frac{1}{8} \times 3 = \frac{3}{8}     (It is in proper form)

(d)  \frac{13}{11} \times6 = \frac{78}{11}   (It is in improper form so we will convert it in an mixed

                          fraction)

                =7\frac{1}{11}
